Welcome Back: Heal the Bay IPA

The season for our beloved Heal the Bay IPA returns! Heal the Bay IPA first made waves last summer as the third in our series of Custom IPAs; bringing awareness and raising funds for its eponymous Santa Monica, CA-based non-profit. Met with critical acclaim, Heal the Bay IPA is the ideal summer IPA -- light-to-medium in body and bursting with bright, tropical, and citrus notes.

At 6.8% abv., Heal the Bay IPA joins our lineup of hoppy India Pale Ales as a balanced and quaff-able tribute to southern hemisphere and west-coast hop varietals. A harmonious amalgamation of Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Citra, Centennial, and El Dorado brings juicy fruits forward with a structured malt backbone. Heal the Bay IPA will make a believer out of the most resistant of hop-lovers and will surely be one of our poolside brews all summer long. 

Heal the Bay IPA returns to The Pub at Golden Road today, April 24th at 5pm on draught and growler fill before it rolls out to draught accounts across the southland. We implore you to join us on Saturday, April 26th in Santa Monica for Heal the Bay's Earth Day Celebration where members of our team will help tidy up the Santa Monica Bay. We will then make our way to the following restaurants who will be tapping the very first kegs of Heal the Bay:

Four-pack cans of Heal the Bay IPA will hit retailers in Early May featuring our new 100% recycled chip-board packaging design; the latest in our effort to increase eco-awareness and sustainability in our business practices. Heal the Bay IPA will retail at $11.99/ 4-pk with a portion of proceeds benefiting Heal The Bay. Additionally, $1 from every pint sold at our Pub will also go towards the cause. 329 Lager Joins Golden Road's Core Lineup

If you have visited our Pub in the last few weeks, you may have noticed a new beer on the board. 329 Lager is one of our newest brews here at Golden Road, and we're happy to announce that it will be joining our core lineup year-round in draught and in cans.

Named after the average number of sunny days in southern California, 329 Lager [pronounced three twenty-nine], is an American-style lager that is easy-drinking yet maintains the full-flavor we have come to expect in a well-crafted brew. When developing the recipe for our first-ever lager, Brewmaster Jesse Houck buckled down with our team to explore different approaches to this classic style. From yeast strains to hop varietals, our goal was to respect the lager and showcase delicate nuances that have since been forgotten in the world of macro brews. 

The resulting product brings to table something familiar; a beer synonymous with summer barbecues with your family, hanging with your friends at the beach, and cracking open a cold one during the game -- a sessionable 4.8% lager that is sure to please beer drinkers and those searching for a dependable every-day brew. 

329 Lager is medium-bodied, light, crisp, and refreshing. A balanced combination of Bravo, Tradition, and Opal hops lend character to the aroma and the beer's delicate floral finish with notes of honeysuckle and jasmine. Look for 329 Lager on draught at select Golden Road accounts in the coming weeks and for 6-pack, 12-ounce cans to hit the market in mid-April.

Barrel-Aged Beers: El Hefe Anejo Returns

El Hefe Anejo returns to Golden Road with an updated twist. Check out the latest from our barrel-aging program led by Head Brewer Cole Hackbarth. 


If you've been following along with us these past two years, then you may be familiar with a special one-off brew we experimented with in the earliest of our days as a brewery. El Hefe Anejo was one of the first specialty beers Golden Road brewed and was the unofficial launch of what would eventually develop into our in-house Barrel-Aged Program. 

While the El Hefe Anejo of year's past now seems like a distant memory, we are excited to announce the re-release of this rare brew in its latest incarnation. Much like the original El Hefe, this year's batch uses a Hefeweizen base and is aged in Tequila barrels for nine months. 

So what's different? Head Brewer and Barrel Program Director Cole Hackbarth decided to brew an Imperial Hefeweizen base (at about 8-9%abv) before aging the beer in barrel. This caused the alcohol level to go much higher; finishing out at 11.1%abv. 

The results were exciting to us as El Hefe Anejo developed more into a luxurious wheat wine. After barrels were blended, the final result was a complex Hefeweizen full of candied banana, soft agave, and mellow white oak. A structured malt backbone and a touch of lingering heat from the Tequila is complimented by the beer's fruity esters. Flavorful and dangerously drinkable. 

El Hefe Anejo is currently available at The Pub at Golden Road and in limited distribution to select Golden Road accounts. Stay tuned via our social media channels to find out when El Hefe may pop up at an event or beer festival near you!
